Information Technology Security Awareness (ITSA) Tutorial

Background

All UVA faculty, staff, and other employees must complete the Information Technology Security Awareness tutorial (ITSA) annually, as part of the revised IRM-002 – Acceptable Use of the University’s Information Technology Resources policy. You may know the ITSA as the Responsible Computing Quiz or Tutorial (RCQ) or the Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) training.  For this year, we will send a reminder email to all UVA faculty, staff, and other employees to remind them to complete the training.  The email reminder will be sent out in waves based on the "original hire date" (visible in the Integrated System).

Important to Know

  • Emails reminding you to complete the training will be done in waves starting in July.  If you are uncertain about the validity of our email reminder, please call the UVA Help Desk  to verify it.  If you suspect that you may have received a phish, please email abuse@virginia.edu so that we can help you determine the message's validity.  You should also check our Security Alerts and Warnings webpage to see if it's listed and review our webpage for identifying phishing emails.
  • Information Security Awareness Training will be migrated to Workday LMS as soon as that platform is available.
  • JointVPN (JVPN) and High Security VPN (HSVPN) users: If you have received an invitation to begin your security awareness training and you do not successfully complete the training by the designated due date, your access to the JVPN and HSVPN will be blocked until you complete the training and call Access Management.

Are you an LSP or technical support staff?

If so, please check the LSP site on UVA Collab for more information regarding the specific dates when each wave of emails will be sent, as well as copies of the emails and reminders to be sent.  Please email it-policy@virginia.edu if you have any questions or concerns regarding the training email distribution schedule.
