Enter a cybersecurity PSA contest to win prizes!

Temple University is hosting a virtual Security Awareness Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest inviting university students to promote good digital citizenship. The UVA Information Security team encourages all UVA students to enter a submission into the contest. Information on prizes, guidelines, and deadlines is included below.

Prizes

Winning videos will be shared on the CARE Lab’s YouTube Channel, and the top three submissions will receive cash prizes: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place. Additional prizes may be added for top submissions. 

What to submit

Students should submit a short (30 seconds), creative, and informative video explaining a cybersecurity or data privacy problem, and recommending specific actions people can take to protect themselves and their devices from harm online. According to Temple, possible topics include but are not limited to:

  • Privacy

  • Scams

  • Ransomware

  • Cyberbullying

  • Malware

  • Social Engineering

  • Phishing

  • Vishing

  • Cloud Security

  • Hardware Security

Group submissions are allowed as long as all students in the group attend the same school.  

Deadline

Submissions will be accepted until 12 PM (noon) Eastern Standard Time on December 31, 2021.
